Frequently asked questions

Do I need a car to get around Phoenix?

Phoenix is surprisingly spread out so having your own wheels is certainly the easiest way to get around town. Having a car not only gives you more freedom to see Phoenix, but you can head out for day trips to nearby destinations such as Sedona, Dobbins Lookout and the Piestewa Freeway.

What to take on holiday to Phoenix?

It depends largely on what you hope to do while you’re in town, but one thing you should know is that water can be a little funky (not in a good way) when you head into the desert. If you’re planning day trips or long hikes, invest in a filter water bottle that will take some of the nasties out. Other things to pack are some hiking boots, sun protection and a light jacket, which might seem like a weird thing to need in the desert, but trust us on this one.

Where to go on holiday in Phoenix?

Where to go depends entirely on what brings you to Phoenix in the first place! If you’re keen to get out and about, Camelback Mountain is well worth navigating the tricky trails. Papago Park is just a few minutes from Downtown and is where you’ll find the much-loved (and very Instagrammable) Desert Botanical Garden. Music-lovers, get your fix at the Musical Instrument Museum while architecture enthusiasts can’t miss the chance to check out Taliesin West, Frank Lloud Wright’s home.

What area is best to stay in Phoenix?

Downtown Phoenix makes the ideal base for first-time visitors to Phoenix as it’s close to a number of the city’s must-see attractions, restaurants and bars, hotels and shops.

When is the best time to visit Phoenix?

Spring in Phoenix is the ideal time to visit. If you plan for April, you’ll avoid some of the crowds that descend over school breaks, but be aware that you’ll likely encounter Easter pricing.

What is there to do in Phoenix?

As Arizona’s capital, Phoenix is bursting with things to see and do! Visitors can fill their days and nights marvelling at the area’s natural beauty, heading out on hikes, getting up close with furry friends at the Phoenix Zoo, getting that perfect snap at the Desert Botanical Garden, wandering around art museums, learning about Native American historical relics, sampling the local cuisine, doing a self-guided tour of Roosevelt Row, the city’s creative hub, seeing a band, catching a baseball game Downtown, the list is endless!
