Named after a Hawaiian god, Maui's beauty is otherworldly, from its clear waters that teem with colourful aquatic life, to lush lands blooming with exotic flowers. More about Maui
Maui is a draw for lovers of water sports, nature, beaches-or just lovers. Our cheap flights from Kelowna to Maui get up close to nature, and each other.
While strolling barefoot in golden sand is part of the experience, slip on flippers to snorkel Maui's reefs and valleys that shelter an abundance of tropical fish. Tie up your laces to hike Haleakala, the world's largest dormant volcano. Strap on a surfboard and catch the perfect wave. If surfing isn't your thing, there are plenty of other board sports to try: wind and kite surfing are wildly popular, or when the water is calmer, rent a paddle board for exercise and exploration. Maui is the place to get active.
There are plenty of opportunities for relaxation. Stretch out on a hammock and smell the orchid-scented air, enjoy an authentic luau with Hawaiian entertainment and bask on beautiful beaches.
The high season for tourism isn't when Maui's weather is at its best, but when our weather is at its worst, December to March. The low season, spring and fall, is a great time to go, when there's less rain and costs less money. Summer months are less expensive than winter, but still busier than the low season, due to families travelling while school is out. Even in winter, when it does rain, showers don't usually last long.
Maui's microclimates include hot, arid conditions or cooler and moist in the most verdant areas. Weather also depends on what part of the islands you're on. If you're windward (facing the wind), it is cooler and damp, while the leeward (sheltered from the wind) side is dry and hot.
No matter what time of year, heavenly Maui is a must-see.
