As part of Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Group, Virgin Atlantic Airways (VS) is a British carrier operating service from 11 North American gateways to almost 40 destinations via hubs in London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

Seating

With a focus on unrivaled service and maximum comfort, Virgin Atlantic passengers can choose one of three fabulous cabins.

Economy Class

The economy class cabin offers comfortable, fully adjustable seats with lumbar support and a 31 inch pitch. Seats can be chosen in advance and upgraded to exit row or bulkhead seating for extra legroom at a modest surcharge. Virgin Atlantic prides itself on the little extras and all economy passengers receive a free amenity kit, newspaper, choice of complimentary meals, cocktails and ice cream as well as over 300 hours of on-demand, blockbuster entertainment. Young flyers will love the complimentary kids’ backpacks, child friendly movie channels and special meals.

Premium Economy

The separate premium economy cabin is distinguished by its luxurious, purple leather seats offering an impressive 38 inch pitch, lumbar support with head and leg rests. A dedicated crew welcomes guests with a complimentary glass of champagne, newspaper and amenity kit. All seats are fitted with a laptop power source for a comfortable working environment. Privileges include an exclusive check-in counter and bag drop station, priority boarding, disembarkation and baggage reclaim. Attentive service includes a choice of three delicious meals, served on china with stainless steel cutlery and linen and meals are accompanied by a choice of wine and finished with an after dinner liqueur.

Upper Class ��

Start your trip off right as you’re picked up and driven to your flight by Virgin Atlantic’s private chauffeur*. Once at the airport, relax or work in The Clubhouse, Virgin’s impressive preflight airport lounge. A private check-in counter fast tracks guests and priority baggage tags ensure your checked bags are unloaded first. Upper class suites boast 22 inch wide super seats that fold out to 33 inches wide and convert to one of the longest, fully flat beds in the industry. Every seat is equipped with a laptop power source and a personal, on-demand entertainment system providing over 300 hours of movies, TV, music and games. Take a stroll and have a signature cocktail at the onboard futuristic bar or just ease back and enjoy the supreme service Virgin is known for. Entertainment

All seats in all cabins feature personal seat-back televisions and most aircraft types feature on demand, touch screen programming for audio and video. Besides current Hollywood and indie films, a variety of TV and music channels are also available as well as plenty of games, even the Disney Channel for the kids! Tune in or entertain yourself in Premium Economy and Upper Class cabins as all seats supply a laptop power source.

Meals

Complimentary welcome cocktails and three course meals with bar service are offered to guests in every class of service. Premium Economy Class and Upper Class dinners are proudly served on china with stainless steel cutlery and a linen tablecloth. Carefully chosen French and Italian wines are paired perfectly with meals and desert comes with an offering of hot chocolate. In addition, Upper Class passengers have the option to order hot and cold snacks throughout the flight with the new Graze Menu, all from the comfort of their seat. Special meal requests can be made at time of purchase or up to 48 hours prior to departure.

Checking-in �

On most routes, Virgin Atlantic’s DIY check-in allows passengers to check-in online, select a seat and print their boarding pass up to two hours prior to departure (within 24 hours to departure). If checking-in at the airport with a Virgin Atlantic representative, two to three hours prior to departure is recommended as the cut-off time is 60 minutes.

Economy Class Baggage

On Transatlantic, Caribbean and Nigerian routes, one bag checked is allowed as long as it is under 50lbs/23kg and smaller than 62 inches/157 cm, combined length + width + height. South African, Australian, Asian and Middle East routes allow a total checked weight of 44lbs/20kg, per child/adult.

Premium Economy Baggage

On Transatlantic, Caribbean and Nigerian routes, two checked bags are allowed with the same above weight and size dimensions. South African, Australian, Asian and Middle East routes allow a total checked weight of 44lbs/20kg, per child/adult.

Upper Class Baggage

On Transatlantic, Caribbean and Nigerian routes, three checked bags are allowed with the same above weight and size dimensions. South African, Australian, Asian and Middle East routes allow a total checked weight of 66lbs/30kg, per child/adult.

Sports Equipment, Excess, Oversize and Overweight Items

Extra or oversized bags will impose an excess or overweight fee. These fees may differ based on routing flown so it is best to check with Virgin Atlantic directly for exact costs. In addition, some checked items such as surfboards and bicycles will be charged a fixed handling fee due to size, fragility or other handling requirements.

Carry-on Baggage

Economy and Premium Economy Class passengers are allowed one carry-on item that must fit in the overhead compartment or under the seat in front. The size of the bag cannot exceed 22/14/9 inches or 56/36/23cm (length/width/height) and cannot weigh more than 13lb/6kg. Upper class guests can carry-on 2 bags with the same above weight and size restrictions.

Virgin Atlantic’s frequent flyer program, the

Flying Club

allows members to earn and redeem miles on Virgin Atlantic and its partners’ services. Book or upgrade your travel with accumulated points or redeem them for airport lounge access, priority check-in, additional baggage and more. While Virgin Atlantic doesn’t belong to an alliance, they have 15 code share airline partners.

The Clubhouse

is the airline’s exclusive lounge found in both London’s Heathrow and Gatwick Airports. Amazing food, fantastic facilities and a pleasant atmosphere give the space a members club feel and provide the perfect environment to either relax or catch up on work while waiting for your flight. Access is restricted to Virgin’s Upper Class passengers or business and first class code share partner airline guests.
